New Delhi: In a major boost to India’s dream of becoming a global manufacturing hub, Apple confirmed on Monday that it has started manufacturing its best-selling iPhone 13 smartphone in India.

The tech giant manufactures some of its most advanced iPhones in the country, including the iPhone 11, iPhone 12 and now the iPhone 13 at the Foxconn factory, while the iPhone SE and iPhone 12 are assembled at the country’s Wistron plant.
According to industry experts, the new Apple iPhone 13 series has benefited from the strong consumer appetite and spending to upgrade to high-end smartphones.
In the first quarter of this year, estimates from CyberMedia Research (CMR) indicate that Apple’s iPhone shipments could increase by more than 20% (year-on-year), with the iPhone 13 series contributing nearly 17% of total iPhone shipments.
“Apple’s iPhone shipments will potentially hit the 7 million mark in CY2022, resulting in a historic market share of 5.5%,” said Prabhu Ram, Head-Industry Intelligence Group (IIG), CMR, at IANS.
The iPhone 13 was available to customers in India simultaneously with the United States, among other markets, which was a first for the country.
