Phone memory full? Here’s how to create more space | Tech News

New Delhi: Is your smartphone storage full? Don’t worry, freeing up space on your device doesn’t take long. Companies are launching handsets with 64GB or 128GB of storage as standard, which are filling up fast due to increased app usage in recent years. It is not shocking that people have thousands of pictures and movies on their phone. Don’t worry if your device doesn’t have a microSD card slot for storage expansion. There are different options to make room for new information. Here’s what you can do to help.

Did you know that you can clean up your phone memory using Google Play Store? This may surprise you, but it’s true. Just launch the app and go to your profile > Manage Apps & Device to get started. Now tap on the storage section again, where the app will tell you how much space your apps are taking up. You will be able to see all the apps you have downloaded along with the space occupied by each one.

The apps you want to eliminate can be selected. You can choose the ones that you don’t use very often and just take up space in your storage. Simply check the boxes on the right side of the screen, then select the trash can icon > Uninstall. The Play Store app even shows you how much space you’ll save by deleting selected apps before doing so. This is the easiest approach to removing a large number of apps at once.

The Google Files app is available on all smartphones. Just use your smartphone to search for it. When you first open it, you will find the apps have tags on the top, such as images, audio, videos, etc. Just swipe left on the tags until you come across “Large Files”. When you tap on it, the app shows all the large files you have on your phone. Then you can discard those that are no longer needed.

It’s worth noting that the Files app opens the Downloads area by default, which will show large files. Just tap the hamburger icon in the top left corner to access Movies or Photos. You can then delete large files by going to any area and tapping on the “Large Files” tag. All of this will free up a lot of storage space at the same time.

WhatsApp is one of the most widely used apps in India, with millions of Indians using it to send and receive messages and photos. People get lots of unwanted photos or videos on WhatsApp, which are saved in Gallery app on their phones. You can use the messaging app’s storage manager to quickly clear pictures or other media. Just go to Settings > Storage & Data > Manage Storage after opening the program. A list of files larger than 5 MB can be found here. You can tap on it to erase all your unwanted files, pictures and movies at once. You can also stash extra space in the Storage Manager by visiting other sections.

Another approach to freeing up space on your smartphone is to back up all your photos and videos to a cloud service. The Google Photos app, which is preinstalled on every smartphone, can be used. You can simply erase all photos from the Gallery app on your phone if you are currently using this cloud storage service to back up your media. But first, check the Google Photos app on any other device to see if everything is backed up. otherwise, your data will be lost.

For those who haven’t downloaded the Google Photos app yet, just open it on your smartphone and enable the backup feature in the profile section. Tap on the profile icon again and then tap on the “Enable backup” option. The program will then display various image quality options, with “Original Quality” being the best option to preserve visual quality. Image quality will suffer if you use the storage saver option. You are now ready to go. Google should now back up your photos and videos, according to the screen. After backing up your images and videos to this service, you will be able to view them on all your devices by simply logging into your Google account.

Finally, if you need extra storage space, you can clear the app cache. It’s important to note that I’m referring to cache rather than user data. So, don’t make the mistake of clearing phone data using Clear Storage button. Clearing app cache is safe. To clear cache, go to your phone’s Settings area > Apps > tap any app > tap Storage > Clear Cache.
